نجح «أبو فراس الحمداني» بديوانه هذا في تعزيز المنظومة الإنسانية الخالدة، بقريحته الحاضرة وسهله الممتنع، وإمتطائه القوافي دون تكلف ودون إخلال بقوة التعبير وصدقه، فنظم الشعر وكأنه حديث عادي يصل إليك بسلاسة، وعبر بلسان حالك وكأن الزمان لم يمض منذ عصره العباسي حتى الآن. أشهر ما قال «أبو فراس الحمداني» الروميات الشهيرة التي كتبها خلال أسره ؛ فخره ومديحه، غزله وعشقه وإنسانياته، جمعها الديوان الذي بين أيدينا ليخلدها في الوجدان العربي.
