Overview
يهدف الكتاب بالدرجة الأولى إلى التأكيد على أنه لا وجود لشعور من دون لا شعور، أو بتحديد أكثر، لابد أن يسبق الشعور عمليات تجري في الدماغ بصمت، فالشعور يسبقه إذن لا شعور (فيما لو استخدمنا المصطلحات الفلسفية)، إذ تظهر الصور أو المعاني أو الأفكار في ساحة الوعي بعد أن تكون قد هيئت لا شعوريا في الدماغ، لذلك لا يمكن أن نتحدث عن الشعور من دون أن نتحدث عن اللاشعور، وهذا أمر واقع أكدته تجارب ووقائع، بعضها حديث العهد، وبعضها قديم.
