على رصيف الميناء في (مرسيليا)، ألقى (ميشيل سانتانريا) بقطعة النقود التي كانت معه، وحين استقرت على الأرض، قرر أن يبحر إلى عشرة من (إفريقيه). لقد كان وحيدا في هذا العالم، ولم يتجاوز الخامسة عشرة من العمر. وهناك في (افريقية) ... في تلك العزلة الموحشة للغابات التي لا تنقطع المطر عنها في (ساحل العاج)، عثر على مستقبله، وتلقى درسا كيف ان رياح الحظ قد هبت بأعجوبة من أجله. إن هذه القصة قوية وجديرة بالذكر، كما تعتبر اكثر من مجرد قصة من قصص المغامرات شأنها في ذلك شأن جميع الكتب التي قدمها (رونيه جايو). وهذا كتاب رائع بأسلوب (جايو)، ربما كان قاسيا عديم الرحمة، إلا أنه يتصف بالشاعرية التي تختلف عن الشعر العادي للمغامرات.
