يقدم كتاب (لغز العقل) لسرجيو مورافيا مسحا نقديا وتاريخيا عريضا وواضحا لأحد السجالات الأساسية في فلسفة العقل : علاقة العقل والجسد، هذه المشكلة التي تستمر في إثارة الأسئلة العميقة المتعلقة بطبيعة الإنسان. للكتاب هدفان مركزيان : الأول هو تلخيص المساهمات الحديثة الكبرى في هذه المشكلة من جانب فلاسفة العقل، من بين المفكرين والنظريات الذين يشملهم نذكر الوضعية الجديدة المنطقية لهربرت فايغل : أعمال المدرسة الأوسترالية (بليس، سمارت، أرمسترونغ) : وظيفانية فودور وبوتنام، الاحدية الشاذة لديفيدسون، ومواقف بعض أتباع فيتغنشتاين (مالكولم، برنشتاين) ومواقف رورتي، غرين، ناغل، دريفوس، ومارغوليس.
