تعتبر التربية الصحية حجر الزاوية في مسألة النهوض بالصحة في مجتمعنا، فهي المسؤولة بشكل مباشر عن رفع مستوي الوعي الصحي لدي المواطنين ويلزم لذلك الاهتمام بها من أجل رفع المستوي الصحي وتمكين المجتمع والدولة من القيام بأعمال تطويرية تساير العصر وتأتي أهميتها من منطلق أن التعامل مع الكثير من المشكلات الصحية والسعي لسيطرة عليها يعتمد على اتخاذ تدابير خاصة متعلقة بالسلوك البشري غير الواعي والذي يمكن تعديله من خلال اتصال المعلومات المناسبة للناس للتأثير على مواقفهم وسلوكياتهم وبالتالي زرع السلوكيات الصحية السليمة على أسس علمية صحيحة.
