تعد كتابات روتشتاين من الكتابات الأولى عن اللخميين أو ملوك الحيرة، وعن عرب شمال الجزيرة العربية والكتابات التي نقصدها هي : أولا : (اللخميون في الحيرة) لغوستاف روتشتاين المستشرق الألماني، إذ صدر هذا الكتاب عام 1899 في برلين بعنوان Die Dynastie der Lahmiden in al-Hira وقد ترجم المرحوم الدكتور منذر البكر ثلاثة فصول من هذا الكتاب من اللغة الألمانية وهي كالآتي : قوائم ملوك الحيرة ونشره الدكتور البكر في مجلة كلية الآداب-جامعة البصرة في العدد 15 سنة 1979.-تأريخ السلالة اللخمية ونشره في مجلة كلية الآداب-جامعة البصرة العدد 16 سنة 1980.-أثر النفوذ الكندي في سياسة الحيرة ونشره في مجلة كلية التربية-جامعة البصرة في العدد 8 السنة الرابعة 1982. هذه الفصول الثلاثة تشكل جزءا مهما من كتاب روتشتاين جمعناها هنا، لأن الكتاب لم يترجم إلى العربية حسب علمنا إلا هذه الفصول فقط.
