Overview
استطاع الأكراد السوريون خلال السنوات الأخيرة الاستفادة من حالات الصراع التي شهدتها سورية، فقد تمكنوا في عام 2016 من إنشاء (الفيدرالية الديمقراطية لشمال سورية)، التي تحول اسمها لاحقا إلى (الإدارة الذاتية لشمال وشرق سورية)، في المنطقة التي يحكمونها منذ 2012. وحظي الأكراد السوريون باهتمام ودعم من القوى الدولية، خاصة الغربية منها، خلال السنوات الماضية التي أعقبت اندلاع الثورة السورية ضد نظام بشار الأسد منذ 2011، وتصاعد نفوذ تنظيم داعش المسلح، تحت لافتة التحالف الدولي لمحاربة الإرهاب، مستفيدين من مظلة القواعد العسكرية لكل من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وفرنسا التي أقيمت في المناطق المحادة للحدود التركية والعراقية.
