تناول الأستاذ صابر الحباشة في هذا الكتاب عددا من الدراسات والمعالجات الدلالية لقضية الاشتراك الدلالي انطلاقا من الأبعاد العرفنية والدلالية والمعجمية والتداولية لظاهرة تعدد المعنى، في عدد من تلوينها وقسم من تلافيفها. كما اهتم المؤلف بطرائق معالجة المشترك اللفظي في الدراسات اللسانية المعاصرة، والمشترك في الدرس اللساني الحديث، وعرض لبعض قضايا المشترك الدلالي، وركز بالخصوص على النظر في بعض قضايا المشترك الدلالي، وإلى علم الدلالة العرفني عند ديرك جيرارت، وقد اهتم بالمعالجة المعجمية للاشتراك الدلالي في مقاربة الحبيب النصراوي، كما التراثية، وانصرف اهتمامه إلى عرض مدخل لدراسة حجاجية الاشتراك واتخذ العلم والأعمال المقصودة بالقول نموذجين.
