Overview
اللغة، أصلها لغو، من باب دعا وسعى ورضى، ووزنها فعة، حذفت لامها، وعوض عنها هاء التأنيث، وتجمع على لغى، ولغات، ولغون، وهي الصوت مطلقا، واللهج (الولوع) بالشئ والخطأ والسقط (ما لا يعتد به) والنطق والهذيان، والباطل، ولم ترد لفظة لغة في القرآن الكريم، وإنما ورد مكانها اللسان، بينما وردت لفظة (اللغو) في غير معنى اللغة. أما بالنسبة إلى مفهوم اللغة اصطلاحا فإن إيجاد تعريف ملائم للغة أمر في غاية من الصعوبة، وقد أمضى علماء اللغة والفلاسفة القرون العديدة في محاولة إيجاد تعريف ملائم للمصطلح، والتعريف ما هو في حقيقة الأمر إلا نظرية مركزة، والنظرية ببساطة ما هي إلا تعريف موسع.
