كتاب بعنوان \"إيقاع المدى\" يتناول السيرة الذاتية للناقد والأكاديمي أ. د. محمود السمرة لتظهر مواقف وشخصية هذا المثقف واتجاهاته الإنسانية والعربية، إذ تتيح المجال للقارئ للتعرف عن قرب على الأحداث والقضايا التي صاغت حياته وإنجازاته الأكاديمية والثقافية ويستعيد السمرة طفولته في قرية الطنطورة في فلسطين، حيث يتذكر شاطئها الساحر على البحر الأبيض المتوسط وسمكها الشهير وفيها درس الابتدائية وتعلم السباحة وكيف أنه كاد أن يغرق مرتين وهذا ما سبب له فوبيا من الأماكن المغلقة فيما بعد ويمر السمرة بدراسته في حيفا ثم القاهرة ولندن وحتى عمله في الكويت والأردن.
