Overview
لم تكن الحضارة الإسلامية منذ بدايتها حضارة مغلقة ومتقوقعة في حدود ضيقة، بل كانت وما تزال حضارة حيوية متطورة ومتفتحة، لذلك شهدت منذ بداية الدعوة الشريفة وحتى الآن، نوعا من الفنون التي لم تقتصر على الجانب الديني فقط، بل شملت كافة مناحي الحياة، فلقد كان الفن الإسلامي يعني بالدرجة الأساس بإنتاج فنون وحرف تتعلق باستعمالات الإنسان الحياتية بكل ما فيها من متعة وبهجة تسر الروح قبل العين، تمخض عن تلك الفنون طرز فنية متنوعة أخذت طابعا خاصا امتاز في تكويناته عن طبيعة الفنون الدينية والحضارية التي سبقته أو تزامنت معه في نواح فنية عديدة.
