تأتي تسمية هذا الكتاب \"تشخيص إضطرابات التواصل وعلاجها\" وذلك باستخدام مصطلح التواصل، ليضم جميع جوانب اللغة والكلام والسمع، حيث إن هذه الجوانب بتضافرها وتفاعلها إنما تهدف بشكل عام إلى تحقيق هدف التواصل بين الناس وفي استعراضنا لما تم نشره في المكتبة العربية في مجال خدمة ذوي الإحتياجات الخاصة، فقد وجدنا أن المكتبة ما زالت تفتقر إلى الكثير، إضافة إلى أن الحاجة في تزايد مستمر وتظهر هذه الحاجة من خلال تزايد عدد الحالات من ذوي الإحتياجات الخاصة ومن خلال التوجه السريع نحو فكرة دمج هؤلاء الأطفال في المدارس اللاعادية.
