يمتاز هذا الكتاب بالطرافة قلما وقع التطرق له من طرف المؤرخين التونسيين، وهو مفيد يسبب الحضور الكبير للمذهب الإباضي في الجزيرة وخاصة بسبب تشابك علاقته ليس فقط مع الحياة الدينية بل أيضا الاجتماعية والسياسية والأنتروبولوجية ولأول مرة تدرس هذه القضية المذهبية والعقائدية في بعديها التاريخي والأنتروبولوجي، إضافة إلى ذلك جاء العلم يزخر بالمعطيات الجديدة وبالتحاليل الدقيقة التي تجعل من هذا البحث دراسة تثري المكتبة التاريخية للجزيرة، فأعاد مثلا النظر في منظومة العزابة في شموليتها وبمختلف مؤسساتها سواء أكان ذلك داخل الجزيرة ذاتها أو على مستوى الشتات.
