تعترف المواجهة الإيجابية للدراسات الاستشراقية بوجود ظاهرة الاستشراق، كما تعترف بتأثيرها على المتلقين من المسلمين على المستويات العقيدية والفكرية. وتحسب لهذه الظاهرة الاستشراقية حسابا ؛ لكنها في حسابها هذا لا تقتصر على مجرد إملاء وجهة النظر بأن أصحاب هذه الظاهرة (المستشرقين) جميعا هم من النوع الذي يريد للإسلام والمسلمين كيدا، ولكنها تقر بأن فيهم النزيهينن المتجردين الذين حصلت منهم أخطاء كما تحصل من أي بشر، وعندما ينبهون إلى هذه الأخطاء يرجعون عنها. وهؤلاء النزيهون هم من الفئة التي لم تحاول الخروج بنظريات حول الإسلام ورسول الإسلام ادعاء منها بأنها ستأتي بما لم تأت به الأوائل في مجالات المعتقد وأصول الإسلام.
