يقوم هذا الكتاب على التنظير لنظام جديد من التفكير المنهجي في قبال ما تعارف لدينا من نُظم الفكر الإسلامي التي أثبت ‹‹الواقع›› خللها، وهي عبارة عن نظامين معرفيين أساسيين سبق أن أطلقنا عليهما النظام الوجودي (الفلسفة والتصوف) والنظام المعياري (كما في علوم المتشرعة من الفقه والكلام وغيرهما) وليكن القارئ الكريم على علم بأننا حينما نعطي للمضامين المعرفية مساحة للبحث، إنما نستهدف من ذلك خدمة البحث المنهجي فلسنا بصدد دراسة العلوم الإسلامية ومذاهبها بقدر ما نهدف إلى طرح منهجي يعمل على توجيه هذه العلوم. والعلاقة بينهما كالعلاقة السائدة اليوم بين العلوم الطبيعية من جهة، وبين فلسفة هذه العلوم أو مناهج البحث فيها من جهة أخرى.
