هذا الكتاب يلقي الضوء على جامع عمرو بن العاص الذي يعد أول مسجد جامع في مصر وإفريقيا وبني وسط مدينة الفسطاط بعد إتمام الفتح العربي والإسلامي لمصر في نوفمبر 641 م وكان دور الجامع ملموسا في التغيير الذي طرأ على المجتمع المصري وتحويل مسار حياته من الحياة البيزنطية إلى الحياة العربية الإسلامية فكان هو مركز التحول في نظام الحكم واللدين واللغة وبالتالي والفنون والعادات والتقاليد وساعد هذا على انتشار اللغة العربية ثم الدين الإسلامي وكلاهما انطلق انتشاره من جامع عمرو بن العاص.
