\"السيد سعيد بن سلطان 1791-1856\" ليس في ما كتب عن عمان ما يضاهى هذا الكتاب في قيمته العلمية وفي طبيعة من كتبه ومن كتب عنه فهو الكتاب الأول والوحيد الذي وضع باللغة الإنكليزية وخصص بكامله لسيرة حاكم معين من حكام عمان وهو أيضا أحد كتب التاريخ العماني قليلة العدد أصلا التي ترمي إلى جلاء ذلك التاريخ بإلقاء الأضواء الكاشفة على فترة هامة من تاريخ عمان الحديث ومن تاريخ بداية الحكم العربي في زنجبار من خلال دراسة مكثفة لسيرة رجل من أعظم حكامها هو السيد سعيد بن سلطان وعلاقاته مع الجوار والدول ذات النفوذ والتدخل والتأثير.
