في عصرنا الحاضر الكثير ممن يدعون انتسابهم إلى محمد بن عبد الوهاب ويزعمون أنهم هم الذين يطبقون الإسلام ويعرفونه حق المعرفة وأنهم الأمناء على مذهب السلف وأن من يخالفهم قد خرج عن دائرة الإسلام، ومثل هذه الأمور الخطيرة تحتاج إلى من يقوم بإيرادها وتحليلها كما وردت عند أصحابها ثم يناقشها مناقشة علمية موضوعية قائمة على الفهم الصحيح لتعاليم الدين الإسلامي وهذا هو الموضوع الرئيسي الذي يدور حوله هذا الكتاب حيث إن المؤلف تشغله دائما هذه الآراء التي تكفر المسلمين بغير حق، ويريد أن يبين وجه الحق في تلك المسألة لأنه يدرك بعقل العالم الواعي مدى خطورة تلك المسألة وبخاصة إذا أغفلها العلماء ولم يهتموا بها.
