محمد أحمد (القاهرة) عمرو بن العاص بن وائل، فاتح مصر، من أشهر القادة العسكريين والسياسيين، كان يسافر بتجارته إلى الشام واليمن ومصر والحبشة، شاعر من فرسان قريش، يتمتع بدهاء وذكاء شديدين، لذلك أرسلته قريش إلى النجاشي ملك الحبشة ليرد إليهم من هاجر من المسلمين إلى بلاده وقد روى عن النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم 39 حديثاً. بعد غزوة الأحزاب وقبل الفتح بنحو ستة أشهر، دخل الإسلام سنة 8 هجري وقدم هو وخالد بن الوليد وعثمان بن طلحة المدينة، فلما دخلوا على النبي ونظر إليهم، قال للمسلمين : (رمتكم مكة بأفلاذ كبدها) لما أسلم عمرو قربه النبي إليه لمعرفته وشجاعته وقال عنه: (إن عمرو بن العاص من صالحي قريش) وزاد في رواية أحمد: (نعم أهل البيت عبد الله وأبوعبد الله وأم عبد الله)
