هذا الكتاب يحث فيه مؤلفه الذي تدرع باسمه \"مطراقي\" طريق رحلته، ليطوف في البلاد بصحبة \"سليم الأول\" ومرافقة \"سليمان القانوني\" في حملته الكبرى التي قادها لفتح العراق إبان القرن العاشر الهجري، رحلته من القسطنطينية حتى بغداد وإنه وصف دقيق مدهش للطريق الذي سلكته الحملة من \"اسكدار\" حتى وصولها \"تبريز\" ومنها إلى بغداد، فذكر المواصلات والقصبات والقرى والقلاع، فضلا على الشهادات النادرة لوقائع الحرب العثمانية الصفوية، كما رآها بنفسة، فصورها ممزوجة بصورة الطبيعة التي دارت عليها المعارك، بوصفه فنانا تشكيليا، ثم إنه صاحب قلم في تأليف كثير من الكتب التي كان تظهر مليه إلى معسكر العثمانيين.
