\"الأجراس\" هي رواية الكاتبة البريطانية آيريس مردوخ، نقلها إلى العربية الدكتور عفيف دمشقية وتدور أحداث الرواية في النصف الأول من القرن العشرين، وتجسد هالة الصراع بين المقدس والمدنس ويتداخل فيها الخاص بالعام وتتموضع الشخصيات والوقائع والأحداث ضمن الأديرة والكهنوت وترصد حياة كاهن خائب وفاشل، بل شاذ وورع في ذات الوقت وهجر التعليم والكهنوت على إثر التشهير الذي قام به في حقه تلميذه \"نيك\" وكان قد أغراه في لحظات ضعف و\"الأجراس\" رواية لا تتوقف عند شخصية الكاهن (ميكايل) بل تنطلق منها لتقدم مناخا من العلاقات المعقدة والوقائع التي تجري في أحد الأديرة القديمة التي سوف يختفي فيها جرس الكنيسة اختفاء كلياش
