الرابحون تجمعهم المصادفة على متن السفينة مالكولم ويتواجهون في فضاء هذه السفينة المغلق فيظهر الجو الغريب منذ بداية الرواية ولكن هذه الرحلة البحرية توازيها رحلة أخرى داخلية لكل مسافر نحو المواجهة مع نفسه بحثا عن تحقيق ذاته ويضاف إلى الأهمية النفسية والسوسيولوجية بعد ميتافيزيقي بفضل \"المناجيات\" التي يقوم بها بيرسو والذي يعطي الواقع رؤية أكثر بنيوية وشعرية يمتزج المضحك بالمبكي في هذه الرواية ذات المستوى الرفيع والتي تقدم في الوقت نفسه رسما ذكيا وجديدا للواقع الأرجنتيني.
