في هذه الورقة البحثية نحاول إثبات أهمية نظرية الحقول الدلالية في صناعة المعاجم، وما قدمته في سبيل تطوير هذه الصناعة، خاصة في مسألة جمع الرصيد المفرداتي من خلال حصر الألفاظ في مجالات دلالية محددة، والكشف عن الفجوات المعجمية، والثغرات المفرداتية، ومسألة ترتيب المواد من خلال تسهيل تحديد حقل الكلمة، ومجال استعمالها، وضبط المعنى المقصود من المشترك اللفظي، ومن ثم الترتيب وفق هذا المنظور، ومسألة تعريف المداخل وضبط المعنى المعجمي.
