يتعرض هذا البحث إلى الإمام فخر الدين الرازي الذي كان له أثرا واسعا على من جاء بعده، ويبحث في الأسباب التي كان لها دور في تشكيل معتقده، ويتطرق إلى المصادر التي اعتمد عليها وتأثر بها في عرض مسائلة العقيدية في كتبه، مبينا سبب تناقضه في العديد من هذه المسائل في: المنطق والفلسفة وأبواب العلم، موضحا النشأة العلمية له، حيث تميز في وقت مبكر من حياته في جدال أهل البدع ومناظراتهم، ويبحث كذلك في أثر عصره عليه وما تميز به هذا العصر من تنوع في العلم وتغيرات سياسية أثرت في حياته العلمية، ويتناول البحث كذلك أثر التصوف عليه، وعن أثره كإمام في المذهب الأشعري على الأتباع.
