Overview
This study examines the impact of employing a peer assessment strategy within an electronic environment on developing writing skills among future English teachers in Egypt. The research argues that peer assessment is an effective tool for active learning, encouraging students to engage in constructive criticism, share experiences, and develop awareness of linguistic and academic standards. A quasi-experimental design was adopted by applying the program to a group of education faculty students and comparing their results with a control group taught traditionally. The program included electronic activities such as exchanging essays via educational platforms, providing written and oral feedback among peers, and discussing quality writing criteria. Findings revealed that the experimental group achieved significant progress in aspects of writing such as organization, clarity of ideas, linguistic accuracy, and self-editing ability. The strategy also enhanced self-confidence and fostered critical and analytical skills. The study concludes that implementing peer assessment strategies in an e-environment is an effective approach for improving academic and professional writing skills, and it recommends greater integration into teacher preparation programs.
