من وجهات نظر تركيبية متعددة، تستطلع هذه الورقة المدي الذي من خلاله يمكن لبعض الكلمات التي تعرف بأشباه الأسماء أن تستخدم كمكممات في اللغة العربية الفصحى. وقد استثنت الورقة الكلمات ذات المرجعية الواضحة مثل أدوات التعريف والأرقام والكلمات المرقمة. وتدرس الورقة (فقط) أسماء الإشارة (كما يروق للنحويين العرب تقليديا الرجوع إليها عن مستوي البناء). إذا تصنف _وفق جهة نظر علم المعني_ الورقة أسماء الإشارة العربية أنها كلمات معدلة للمعني يمكن لها أن تنتشر في النص إما إلى الأمام أو الخلف. كما تعيد تقسيم تلك الأسماء وظيفياً إلى كلمات ذات مرجعية لغوية (أي ترجع إلى كلمة محددة في النص) أو مرجعية غير لغوية تتعلق بالمعني ككل (أي إلى فكرة سابقة) أو إلى كلمات ذات دلالة تأشيريه ترتبط بالبعد المكاني. وعلى نحو غير تقليدي تنتفع الورقة من علم المنطلق من الدرجة الأولى لإعادة تصنيف أسماء الإشارة كمكممات وجودية وغير وجودية. لذا فإن قيم وافتراضات المعني لبعض التركيبات الواردة فيها تلك الأسماء قد تم تسجيلها واحتسابها. وقد أجريت هذه الدراسة على النصوص القرآنية الكريمة بسبب الإحكام والدقة اللغويين.
