Overview
This chapter examines the dilemma facing Indigenized Varieties of English (IVEs) – also commonly called New Englishes, non-native Englishes, postcolonial Englishes, vernacular Englishes and nativized Englishes – with regard to the issue of standard or norm; and seeks to situate them within the broader framework of English as an international language.
