يهدف هذا البحث إلى بيان خطورة التساهل بالحكم بالكفر على المسلم وهو ما اصطلح عليه عند علماء العقيدة \"حكم تكفير المعين\"، في ظل تنامي ظاهرة التكفير بين أوساط بعض الحركات الإسلامية. حيث يظهر من خلال البحث احتياط الشرع في إطلاق هذا الحكم، ووجوب التثبيت منه دون غلو أو تساهل، وبيان الفرق بين التكفير العام المطلق الوارد في النصوص الشرعية وبين تكفير المعين، مع إيضاح شروط التكفير والموانع التي قد تنتفي في حق المعين، مع إبراز الآثار الخطيرة المترتبة على هذا الحكم.
