التلاحق ظاهرة فنية تعبر عن تتابع الصور الفنية لإتمام الشبه والمعنى الذي يريده الأديب، وقد أشار إليها النقاد القدماء بالذات في بناء استعارة على استعارة، ويبرز الجرجاني ثم الزمخشري من القدماء في الإشارة إلى الظاهرة أما أغلب من جاء بعدهم فقد أبدى إعجابه بالظاهرة متابعا الجرجاني في إنها من أشرف الاستعارات أو عدها من بليغ الاستعارة ومحاسنها، أو وضعها في باب الغرابة.
