Saudi-Sino Relations between Past and Present

Overview

The Sino-Saudi relations are an exemplary model in the International Relations tradition. Despite Saudi Arabia's recent recognition of the People's Republic of China, the bilateral relations actually date back to the beginning of the twentieth century when Saudi Arabia was the first Arab country to recognize the newly established Republic of China. Rather, relations date back to even earlier historical periods, specifically to the era of the emergence of Arab-Chinese relations before Islam and their development after it, because the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia inherited much of the geography in which and through which Sino-Arab relations developed from ports and commercial cities, as well as through religious centers (Mecca and Medina), which greatly contributed to strengthening the relations between the two parties. This research attempts to explore in depth the historical relations between the two parties and analyzes the positive stereotypes that have arisen throughout history and affected the shape of modern relations between the two parties that were characterized by cooperation, understanding and respect in all stages. The study used the historical-analytical method and identified the stages that formed the positive images of the two sides of each other, and identified the reasons that will contribute to strong and solid Sino-Saudi and Arab relations.
