Overview
This study explores Indian folk art Madhubani as a source of inspiration for designing printed textiles for children, demonstrating how traditional artistic heritage can be integrated with contemporary design requirements in the textile field. The research is based on the hypothesis that folk arts, with their rich symbols, colors, and patterns, provide a valuable reservoir of creative ideas that strengthen cultural identity while adding aesthetic value to modern products. The theoretical framework reviews the origins of Madhubani art in the Indian state of Bihar and its distinctive features, including the use of natural dyes, floral and animal motifs, and simple geometric arrangements. A descriptive-applied methodology was adopted, with the researcher collecting and analyzing samples of Madhubani drawings in terms of form and content, then transforming them into printed textile designs suitable for children. Findings revealed that incorporating Madhubani elements into textile design enhances the visual appeal of fabrics, creating joyful and playful atmospheres aligned with the world of childhood. The study further showed that using such elements fosters children's artistic taste and connects them with Indian cultural heritage in a modern context. The research concludes that drawing inspiration from folk art does not mean reproducing the past but can serve as a bridge toward innovation in textile design. It recommends expanding applied studies that utilize folklore as a resource for artistic and industrial creativity. Abstract Written by Dar AlMandumh, 2025, Using AI
