Overview
لقد رصد الجاحظ في كتابه الحيوان صوراً مختلفة للأمم التي شاركت الأمة العربية البناء الحضاري والثقافي، فقد عرض لنا جزءاً عظيماً من نظمهم في الحكم، والسياسة، وعرض جانياً عظيماً من ثقافة تلك الأقوام وجزءاً من عاداتهم الاجتماعية في المآكل والملبس، كل ذلك كان يعرضه الجاحظ بروح العالم المحايد الحريص، المؤمن بأهمية التراكم الثقافي ودوره في بناء الإنسانية، موقناً أن الأمة العربية ما هي إلا حلقة مهمة في مسلسل الإنجازات الإنسانية محافظاً على الهوية العربية، منصفاً تلك الأمم، ذاكراً ما لها وما عليها بعقل متوقد وفكر حر، وأسلوب شامل موسوعي.
