Overview
The 21st century has witnessed rapid and increasing transformations in all aspects of life due to the advancements in knowledge and technology. This has confronted libraries, especially school libraries, with new demands and challenges, necessitating them to improve the skills and competencies of their staff via continuous professional development. In this context, the study addresses a worthy research topic: the professional development of library staff. We chose Tebessa secondary schools libraries as a field of study. We used the descriptive method which depends on analysis and a survey questionnaire. The study's most important finding is that Tebessa secondary school libraries' staff are well aware of the concept and importance of professional development. Additionally, they have benefited from training programmes in the form of study days, but have not received structured training programmes depending on information technology. Finally, the study proposed to train school libraries' staff in different training programmes with practical application of information technology in all fields. It also suggested the creation of a Facebook group for the staff to facilitate communication and share updates in the field.
