Overview
The most influential time in the Islamic evolution can be traced back to the golden Abbasid era, characterized by cultural diversity, intellectual expansion, and literary renovation. The paper at hand aims to explore to what extent cultural openness has influenced Arabic poetry during the Abbasid period, focusing on the views of Western critics. The study employs a qualitative, interpretive methodology through analyzing literary criticism and historical presentations to investigate the way in which the Abbasid era has been viewed, interpreted, and criticized by Western Critics. Moreover, the study makes use of thematic content analysis to examine previous literature on this topic, identifying common perspectives, ideological frames, and historiographical patterns, including orientalist interpretations found within the sources. Whether fascination or distortion of Abbasid poetry, it aims to provide a holistic framework that captures the perception and presentation of Abbasid poetry in the global context.
