تناول البحث مصطلح \"المحال\" في النحو والصرف. ويهدف إلى شرح حدوث المصطلح وتعريفه واستخدامه والأساسيات التي يتم تطبيقه عليها. كما يصف أهمية المصطلح في النحو والصرف وعلاقته بالمصطلحات الأخرى. توضح الدراسة هذا المصطلح في كتب النحو عبر فترات زمنية مختلفة. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، فإنه يحلل حدوثه. توصلت الدراسة إلى أن مصطلح \"المحال\" له شروط لغوية محددة، فهو يؤثر ويتأثر بهذه الشروط أيضا. نتيجة لذلك، لا يمكن عزله عن هذه الظروف.
