جاءت هذه الدراسة من أجل التعرف على التهانوي، وتتبع معجمه كشاف اصطلاحات الفنون، بهدف التعرف على أهم مظاهر التجديد التي ميزت معجمه عن باقي المعاجم العربية، وهو ما ساهم في تطوير العمل المعجمي. تضمنت هذه الدراسة عدة عناصر، حيث ناقش العنصر الأول ترجمة التهانوي، وتناول العنصر الثاني معجم الكشاف، وكشف العنصر الثالث عن مظاهر التجديد والتميز في هذا المعجم.
