كثيرا ما كانت القدس محور قرارات عديدة صدرت عن الأمم المتحدة اعتبارا من قرار الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة رقم 181 لسنة 1947 وما تبعه من قرارات ذات صلة بالصراع الفلسطيني/العربي - الإسرائيلي؛ وهي كمنطقة محتلة، تخضع بالتالي للقانون الدولي والقانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان، اللذين يجرما الإجراءات الإسرائيلية، وينقضا قراري الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب الأخيرين باعتبار \"القدس الموحدة\" عاصمة لإسرائيل، ونقل السفارة الأميركية إلى المدينة المحتلة.
