تعد مرحلة الطفولة من المراحل الخصبة لدراسة الابتكار واكتشاف المبتكرين، وكل طفل موهوب هو مشروع إنسان مبدع، وهو مشروع بحد ذاته إذا أمكن توفير البيئة الخصبة لإبداعاته، فرعاية الموهوبين تستند على أسس موضوعية رصينة بدءا من مرحلة اكتشاف موهبتهم ورعايتهم والاهتمام بهم، ثم تقديم البرامج المناسبة لهم. ورياض الأطفال لها قيمتها وأهميتها إذا استطاعت تلبية حاجات الطفل في اكتشاف طاقاته الابداعية، ومن ثم تهيئة بيئة مناسبة لتفجير تلك الطاقات. وأنه لابد من الزامية التعليم في مرحلة رياض الأطفال، بحيث يصبح شرطا لقبول الطفل في المدرسة، مما يساعد على توسيع قاعدة الموهوبين في المجتمع.
