تواجه شركات التأمين وإعادة التأمين ظروفا تستدعي وقف نشاطها من سواء بشكل مؤقت أو دائم، وهذه الظروف تشمل مجموعة متنوعة من الأسباب أهمها التغير في التشريعات الاقتصادية وقد يكون وقف النشاط إما بشكل كامل أو بشكل جزئي أو بشكل دائم أو بشكل مؤقت، وسنبين من خلال هذا البحث أحكام الوقف عندما يكون راجع لأسباب ذاتية تتعلق بالشركة أو بناء على قرار من الجهة المختصة وآثار الوقف.
