El lector tiene en sus manos la edición crítica de Auristela y Lisidante, comedia palaciega que Calderón publicó por vez primera en el año 1663. Una obra que le seducirá desde el comienzo, por la majestuosidad de sus protagonistas femeninas, por la caballerosidad de sus personajes masculinos, por el ritmo interno que se encierra en el transcurso de la acción principal. Reirá con los parlamentos del gracioso Merlín y sufrirá ante la suerte adversa de Lisidante. Para esto fueron creados los protagonistas de la comedia, y la intención de esta edición es que el lector pueda sumergirse por completo en ella. Con esta finalidad se ha desgranado, en los sucesivos capítulos, un estudio de su posible génesis, sus personajes, su forma métrica, el estilo con que fue escrita y su transmisión.
