يمكن تفسير التحولات المنظورية في علم السياسة (ما بين الخمسينيات والثمانينيات) بصورة أفضل في سياق المواجهة مع الآخر، وهي مواجهة مرت بأطوار ثلاثة. الأول: تصوير الآخر بصورة واثقة من نفسها، وكانت تلك سمة الحداثة؛ أما الثاني: الخوف من الآخر والرغبة في التحكم فيه، وتلك هي سمة نهاية الحداثة؛ أما الثالث: فيتمثل في الإدراك المفرط للآخر وتتفيهه، وتلك هي سمة ما بعد الحداثة.
وقد وقعت هذه المواجهة مع الآخر في سياق خطابي أو معرفي أوسع، وذلك ما يقتضي النظر في التحولات المعرفية كذلك ...
