Overview
El siguiente trabajo tiene como propósito analizar parte de la aportación al pensamiento geopolítico proveniente de Henry Kissinger. A partir del texto publicado en Foreign Affairs con el título “The Search of Stability”, se intentan presentar cuatro elementos centrales de su producción intelectual. Primero, la importancia del equilibrio de poder y, relacionado con ello, la necesidad por construir y estabilizar un orden internacional. Al respecto, la diplomacia reviste de una relevancia central, la cual cobra sentido a partir de una óptica realista particular, alejada de los postulados de Hans Morgenthau, y también de Kenneth Waltz, al igual que el universalismo moralista imputable a las tesis idealistas. El texto igualmente aborda el análisis kissingeriano sobre la crisis berlinesa, intentado ofrecer como corolario las preocupaciones geopolíticas de quien fuera secretario de Estado con Richard Nixon una vez finalizada la Guerra Fría y entrado el siglo XXI
