Overview
El universo pictórico de Enrique Marty y Santiago Ydáñez se caracteriza por una inmersión formal y temática en algunos aspectos oscuros de la condición humana y la deformación consciente de su representación. Desarrollar una aproximación «teratológica» como metodología, permite analizar las causas y las posibles lecturas sobre la presencia de lo grotesco y siniestro en la producción de estos autores. El objetivo principal es relacionar diversas aproximaciones teóricas desde el ámbito de lo grotesco, lo siniestro y lo neobarroco con estos pintores, planteando la pregunta de la legitimidad de una teratología hacia cierta pintura española contemporánea. En conclusión, la deformación consciente de la pintura, tanto del referente como de la obra, se relaciona con una actitud neobarroca, reflejo de situaciones que van desde lo subconsciente a una crítica a los sistemas culturales tradicionales y también a la historia y la contemporaneidad. The pictorial universe of Enrique Marty and Santiago Ydáñez is characterized by a formal and thematic immersion into certain dark aspects of the human condition and the conscious deformation of their representation. The employment of a «teratological» approach as a methodological framework allows the analysis of the causes and interpretations of the presence of the grotesque and sinister elements within the artistic works of those artists. The objective is to relate various theoretical approaches from the realms of the grotesque, the uncanny, and the neobaroque to these painters, raising the question of the legitimacy of teratology in relation to certain contemporary Spanish painting. The conscious deformation of both the subject matter and the artwork itself is related to a neobaroque attitude, reflecting situations ranging from the subconscious to a critique of traditional cultural systems as well as of history and contemporaneity.
