Overview
Presents thoughts on adolescent participation from the Women's Commission's work with young people, adults in the community, & other state & humanitarian entities, based on primary research performed by young refugees themselves. An explication of the methodology & dynamics of this participatory research & advocacy project offers examples of significant issues arising from humanitarian work with adolescents & youth. Changes in social relationships & refugee circumstances are key bases for understanding the need for supporting youth participation. Young people's accomplishments through participation under their own initiative & with adult backing are also strikingly illustrative of youths' fundamental & potential roles in bettering their lives, offering hope not just for survival but also for eventual prosperity. 6 References.
