is widely used for investigative, diagnostic, and clinical management of patients with myasthenia gravis.

False-negative results in this test occur in 10 to 40 per cent of patients with myasthenia; the percentage depends to some extent on the source of the receptor used as the test antigen.

However, false-positive results have not been found in normal subjects or in subjects with various other diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
