Overview
This article aims to show how a geographically informed concept of social innovation can contribute to current debates on both the health and care crisis in peripheral regions and on Planetary Health. It does so by highlighting social resources and novel governance arrangements emerging
within the care sector. In this way, it supports the formation and organisation of coalitions that enable or strengthen care work. Our argument builds on selected empirical insights from research conducted in East Brandenburg, Germany, as well as on social-science and geographical literature
on health, care, innovation, and governance arrangements.
