Overview
Negli ultimi anni stiamo assistendo a una vera e propria rivoluzione nella terapia del melanoma metastatico, grazie all’acquisizione delle nuove terapie a bersaglio molecolare e delle immunoterapie. Al recente Congresso AACR (New Orleans, 16-20 aprile 2016) questa tendenza è stata confermata dai risultati dello studio di immunoterapia CA209-003 che ha valutato l’inibitore dei checkpoint immunitari nivolumab, evidenziando tassi di sopravvivenza del 41-42% a 3 anni e del 35% a 4 e 5 anni. Si tratta, a oggi, dello studio con il follow-up più lungo condotto in pazienti con melanoma metastatico trattati in monoterapia con questo farmaco.
