لا يخفى على ذي ذهن ثاقب وعقل لازب أثر الحديث عن المستقبل والفتن في الفرد والجماعة؛ ما حتم علينا الوقوف على ما يقع فيه بعض الباحثين والدعاة والوعَّاظ، فضلاً عن العامَّة، من أخطاء ومخالفات وإشكالات، مثل: الاعتماد على الضعيف، والتنزيل الخطأ، والاستشهاد بتواريخ غير صحيحة، مما قد يوقع في كثير من اللبس، أو ينسب إلى رسولنا r ما لا يثبت، أو يؤدي إلى التواكل والاستسلام، ولهذا كان لزاماً بيان المنهج الدقيق في التعامل مع تلكم القضايا، ولا سيما ما يتصل منها بالفهم، والتنزيل، والنقد، فكانت هذه الدراسة.
