Overview
El vasallaje prestado por Alfonso X a la capital murciana en 1243 y, concretamente, su posterior conquista cristiana en 1266, conllevó no sólo la posesión castellana del antiguo alcázar islámico sino también su inmediata continuidad ocupacional durante los siglos XIII y XIV. A ello hay que sumar las sucesivas transformaciones que se dieron por entontes, fruto de su pervivencia como sede político-administrativa de la ciudad. De esta forma lo pone de manifiesto la documentación escrita, realidad que ha sido avalada a partir de los testimonios gráficos y arqueológicos conservados quedando a la espera de que futuras intervenciones arrojen más luz al respecto.
