Overview
First published in the American Harp Journal 3, no. 2 (Fall 1971) Editor's note: the following is an excerpt from a lecture given by Ms. Cotthoffer at the American Harp Society National Conference held at Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana, in June 1971. There are a few moments while the conductor talks, someone tunes, etc., and those moments (and \"rest\" bars) should be put to good use. 1) Check time and key signatures. 2) Look for repeat signs, dal segnos, da capos, and coda signs. 3) Look for solo and pianissimo passages. Catherine Gotthoffer was a founding member of the American Harp Society - Los Angeles chapter, a two-term nationa president of the AHS, Inc., and its first Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
